Parent’s Antic

The day you become a parent, you will never stop worrying and nerve-recking about your flesh and blood wellbeing. Every parent wants the best for their children. Let us define what are those things?

1. When they were the tiny embryo inside our womb, we spent bucks on the best gynecology and obstetrician. But, it is merely the mothers who bear the labour pain and deliver our own kind! We forget that, naturally, women give birth without doctor or midwives presence. Hey, my mother gave birth to me at home lacking the hospital facility; and both of mother and baby were safe and sound!

2. When they were born, we disputed over who met the best paediatrician, it is saddened that the reality is parents’ warm hug and care that shield them safe. Do we know spiritually and emotionally health assures ones’ physical strength? Having fever when I was small, all I want was mother’s pot-cooked porridge! (Assalamualaikum mak!)

3. We debated over the finest formula milk to be given to them and deny that mother’s breast milk is the finest amongst all! Do we think Allah the Merciful beautify women with a pair of breasts for the beauty and sexual purposes? Female mammal also have breast, produce milk and feed their young!

4. When they were toddler, we dolled them up, dressed them up and bought luxury clothes, completely forgotten that they could not differ between silk and sack, ruffles and remnants, in trend and on sale. They are thankful that we provide clothes and shelter.

5. We lavish them with toy room; all they need is our hilarious laughter and giggling together in teasing moment. They yearn for your presence rather than your present!

6. We contested on supreme kindergarten; all they know is having fun with friends; dancing, singing, crying, yelling their heart out. They look cute and vividly in stained clothes and smeared face, don’t we think so??

 7. Well-to-do parents send their children to boarding school in England, some parents scrape the barrel deciding on private school in Malaysia, many of parents are satisfied with National Education Centre, and those underprivileged families are relieved that education is almost free or at minimal fee.  Hat off to Malaysian National Education system; the teachers, the school, the textbooks, the curriculum, and not to forget the taxpayers. I am the breed of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan, Sekolah Tinggi, MRSM, matriculation and public university. Proud and pride. Educated and intellectual. Polished and refined. Cultured and cultivated.

8. We guide and deliberate them to promising-big-money career, but we know that money cannot guarantee their happiness. They might be rich and big-headed. They might be genius and immoral.

Most essential, religion and faith is issue to be emphasized and stressed in our children heart.  It is mandatory and crucial to develop the idea that they are the little caliph; the believer and the leader, remind them what we, the human are created for?
Are we living out loud for stacks of money? For endless appreciation and people admiration?  For people approval? For huge mansion, posh car, and luxurious lifestyle? Or for title and status?

It is essential that parents ensure such righteousness upbringing of their children, so that the parents will benefit from the trust endowed by Allah swt not only during their lives but also after death.
Allah, the Almighty stated in the Glorious Quran:
"And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds." (52:21) quoted from  http://www.ummah.com/forum/

Moreover, Allah's Apostle (saw)said: "Upon death, man's deeds will (definitely) stop except for three deeds, namely: a continuous charitable fund, endowment or goodwill; knowledge left for people to benefit from; and pious righteous and God-fearing child who continuously prays Allah, the Almighty, for the soul of his parents." This Hadith is reported by Muslim. Quoted from http://www.ummah.com/forum/

A Malay proverb said,’ Benih yang baik, di campak ke laut menjadi pulau, dicampak ke darat menjadi rimba’.

Now do you still believe there is substitution to religion and faith teachings as the best approach and obligation to our children?
